Nacewa and Gibson-Park denied entry to South Africa”

Nacewa and fellow New Zealander Jamison Gibson-Park were turned back due to visa issues that came to light on arrival in Johannesburg, Leinster announced.

Leinster duo Isa Nacewa and Jamison Gibson Park have been denied entry to South Africa.

The rushed nature of the tournament revamp has seen its first major logistical hiccup today as two Leinster stars, Isa Nacewa and Jamison Gibson-Park have been denied access to South Africa.

Scrum-half Nick McCarthy has been called up as cover for Gibson-Park for the Guinness PRO14 games against the Southern Kings and the Cheetahs, while Nacewa's absence will be covered by the players who travelled.

The players, both New Zealand passport holders, are without the required visas.

Regulations introduced by South Africa last December require New Zealanders to obtain a visa to enter the country.

The statement, however, from Leinster is very vague.

The encounter with the Southern Kings on Saturday afternoon will be played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, while the match with the Cheetahs will take place in Bloemfontein.

'As this process is still ongoing, Leinster Rugby will be making no further statement'.

Along with Italian side Zebre whose squad all made it into South Africa, Leinster are the first PRO14 side to make the trip to South Africa and have been under pressure to get the logistics of their tour together at short notice.
