National Football League suspends Texans LB Brian Cushing 10 games”

Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing, the former area high school standout from Bergen Catholic and college star at USC, has been suspended by the National Football League for 10 games, his team confirmed Wednesday.

He will be eligible to return to the roster on November 28, after the team's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing has been suspended for 10 games without pay for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances, the team announced Wednesday.

This is Cushing's second suspension for performance enhancing drugs.

It's a significant blow to a Houston team that was routed by the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1.

Cushing, who was drafted by the Texans with the 15th pick in the 2009 draft, was already scheduled to miss Thursday's game with the Bengals due to a concussion. By now, Cushing is just one part of a very good Texans defense. During that season Cushing also tallied four sacks and four interceptions.
