New season of South Park takes aim at white supremacy”

The media expected South Park's 21st season premiere to tackle Charlottesville and white supremacists based on its preview.

Personally, I was quite a big fan of season 20, for the most part. And while the show certainly pushed a lot of buttons last season by parodying the election as it unfolded, the season 21 premiere won't stray from that approach whatsoever.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that Parker and Stone originally meant to go back to the roots of the "South Park" story, creating episodes that are not politically related. In a world where Donald Trump is present, satire is extremely hard to pull off. That's why Trey Parker and Matt Stone wanted to see what it would look like if the Unite the Right protest happened in their show's world. And it did. But South Park saved its sharpest edges for mocking Americans distraught about the decline in manufacturing and other blue-collar jobs. South Park season 21 episode 1 live stream and South Park live streaming info follows. The pieces of the episode never really connect here and the whole thing never really gets going.

The official description reads, "Protestors armed with tiki torches and confederate flags take to the streets of South Park". The episode synopsis stated that Randy Marsh will be struggling to understand the implications of being white in this day and age. "What if I told you I could get you all jobs?"

The boys themselves, aside from Cartman are hardly in the episode; in fact, they are involved in the opening scene and that is about it. Cartman's relationship, one of the weaker plots from last season, takes centre stage here, to varying results.

In a way, South Park is like Charlottesville. Parker and Stone need to take the show back to its roots and give us the boys just taking on a stupid adventure, not every episode has to have a target. We were really trying to make fun of what was going on [last season] but we couldn't keep up.

What did you think of "White People Renovating Houses"?
