NH police apprehend suspect in hospital shooting scareā€

Officials at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center say they are reviewing their security procedures but feel comfortable that they can continue to provide a safe environment for patients.

The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Travis Frink, was taken into custody trying to flee, pulled from a auto not far from the hospital's sprawling campus. The hospital typically has as many as 20 to 28 operations going on at once.

No other patients, visitors or staff were physically injured as a result of the incident.

According to a complaint filed Tuesday, the man accused of killing his mother at a New Hampshire hospital admitted to troopers he went there to do it.

Travis Frink, 48, of 76 Hoxie Drive, Warwick, Rhode Island, has been charged with first-degree murder.

MacDonald is asking anyone who has information about the whereabouts of Frink in the past few days, to call Detective Brian Strong with the State Police Major Crimes Scene Unit at 603-223-8568. Defense lawyer Rebecca McKinnon agreed to the request.

Police officers were seen Tuesday night outside Frink's Rhode Island home. No reason or motive was given. "Robert Ferriere asked Pamela Ferriere if that was okay and she indicated yes".

The affidavit says Travis Frink was later arrested and told police he went to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center to kill his mother, 70-year-old Pamela Ferriere. She was due to be discharged on Friday, September 15, court documents stated.

When asked about the shooting Wednesday morning by The Associated Press, Robert Ferriere said he had no idea why it happened. Messages left with the company listed as his current employer weren't immediately returned.

About an hour after the shooting, the suspect was apprehended "without incident" by Lebanon and Canaan police as he attempted to leave the grounds of the hospital, MacDonald said.

The slaying caused a lockdown and partial evacuation of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center at about 2 p.m. local time.

Travis Frink is due to be arraigned at Grafton Superior Court in North Haverhill at 1 p.m.

The New Hampshire attorney general's office is investigating.

Travis Frink's LinkedIn page includes a long list of experience in computer systems administration and technical support jobs in Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and MA.
