Pakistan will host ICC events if everything goes smooth: Richardson

Pakistan will host ICC events if everything goes smooth: Richardson”

After the drubbing received by World XI in the inaugural T20I, Collingwood affirmed that the players will need time to adjust to conditions, but can surely keep the series alive.

Paul Collingwood is relishing the opportunity of playing for World XI in the cricket insane nation of Pakistan.

Sethi further added that in an attempt to gain confidence of worldwide teams on the security of Pakistan, the PCB has employed a FICA and ICC backed security company.

Chief Executive Officer David Richardson has said that the World XI tour to Pakistan is stepping stone towards the revival of worldwide cricket. "To grow the capability and to build the confidence, the next step is to grow and improve the capability in cities outside Lahore and build the confidence in teams like Australia and England to visit Pakistan, in fact, all the cricket teams", he added. "The efforts made by Pakistan especially by its all security agencies are commendable".

Acknowledging the importance of that event, Richardson said that the current three-match series would go a long way towards convincing other countries that Pakistan could safely host their teams. "In India's case they genuinely are a very busy country", Richardson was quoted by ESPNCricinfo as saying. Security is not just Pakistan's concern, but the entire world's. "We don't want ICC members resorting to taking legal action against each other".

Collingwood also believes that World XI have it in them to bounce back and win the series after the 20-run defeat in the first T20I at Lahore. "This is a very good example that cricket world family has been contributing together to help a country in restoring worldwide cricket there".

He also said: "From a political point of view, obviously, if an Indian player would have been a part of this tour you can imagine the level of attention he would have attracted and the pressures it would have brought from the security point of view".

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, the PCB chief maintained that he had invited the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan when global players graced Gaddafi stadium during PSL 2017 final in March and has sent him an invitation to watch the ongoing Independence Cup.

"A sufficient condition was to convince the global community in general and the ICC in particular that the situation was safe to play cricket".

Richardson said Giles Clarke, the head of the International Cricket Council (ICC) task force for Pakistan, and the PCB had worked really hard to revive international cricket in the country. With the continued blessings of Almighty Allah, there will be more cricket when Sri Lankan team arrives to play one T20 match in Lahore towards end of October to be followed by a visit of West Indies team in November 2017.
