Three people injured in house fire in Rathmines”

Dublin Fire Brigade said the cause of the fire is now unknown.

Three people were taken to St James' Hospital from the scene and one man was subsequently pronounced dead.

The other two remain in hospital and are not thought to be seriously injured.

The house fire happened on Grove Road in the Rathmines area.

It is understood the building in a period house divided into several apartments.

Residents said they were not sure of how many people were living there.

One man told how he had to jump from an upstairs window to escape the flames.

The blaze broke out around 7am this morning.

Firefighters from the Dolphins Barn and Donnybrook units of Dublin Fire Brigade have dealt with a domestic fire on Grove Road in Rathmines this morning.

Dublin Fire Brigade was called to the scene at 7.04am and eight units attended along with an ambulance from the National Ambulance Service.

The fire has been extinguished, while traffic restrictions are in place in the area.
