Windows 10 will get a privacy boost with Fall Creators Update

Windows 10 will get a privacy boost with Fall Creators Update”

The next major update of the Windows 10 operating system - codenamed the Fall Creators Update (FCU) - will receive new privacy controls, including popup dialogs that warn users about features an app is about to use. Disable MS Game DVR feature - 09/12/2017 08:20 AMMicrosoft support engineer Paul "Jesse Pinkman" Aaron confirmed that some users experience stuttering issues playing games in Windows 10 were the result of the Windows 10 Creator Update.

What are your views about Windows 10 Fall Creators Update?

Microsoft will also make it easier to see how privacy information is collected in the installation of the Fall update.

Microsoft is extending the per-app permission requirements to additional resources like contact and calendar, as well a camera and microphone.

Previously, users were only prompted to grant an app access if it required access to a person's location data, while all other permissions were granted automatically. It's worth pointing out, however, that apps you've already installed from the Windows Store will not have those permission prompts - you'll need to go into Privacy settings in Windows 10 to change them.

Microsoft will also allow users to have more control over which apps can access their information, similar to Android and iOS apps.

When it launched, Windows 10 was plagued by privacy concerns, and it looks like Microsoft is continuing to hand more control back to its customers over what private data is shared, while being more transparent over what it does with the information.

The Fall Creators Update is scheduled for a release on October 7, 2017.
