Arsenal came back to whip Cologne 3-1

Arsenal came back to whip Cologne 3-1”

The Group H game, which Arsenal won 3-1, was due to kick-off at 1905 GMT but European soccer's governing body UEFA, which organises the competition, said 45 minutes before the scheduled start it would be put back "in the interests of crowd safety".

To manage the situation, UEFA, European soccer's governing body, made a decision to delay the game an hour.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the violence, noting they sent in extra officers to keep he peace.

"In the end, at some stage, I thought they will not play the game".

Arsenal's official website warned Cologne fans they faced being asked to leave the stadium if they purchased tickets in the home sections of the ground.

Koln fans infamously stormed the Rheinenergiestadion pitch in 2012 after their side lost 4-1 to Bayern Munich and were relegated from the Bundesliga.

The fans brought central London to a standstill in the afternoon and police said a number of flares had been discharged by the supporters.

The spokesman said the five people were arrested on suspicion of public order offences.

Some attempted to leap over barriers to get into the away section with stewards unable to control the fan frenzy.

Outside the ground, organisational chaos ensued, with thousands of Koln fans trying to get in and authorities forced to close the turnstiles.

"We decided that it was the first time and hopefully the last time we played the Europa League and we wanted to win it", he said.

Arsenal may not have as good a team as Chelsea do, but there are some wonderful players in the current Gunners' team who can make the Blues work hard. "Don't know if it was because Arsenal fans had decided not to come in the first place, or chose to go home once they got here".

So much of the Europa League is about confidence for the Gunners and getting started strong at home behind the likes of fan favorites Wilshere, Giroud and Nelson would be a huge boost.

The visiting masses were celebrating when their team took an early lead through Jhon Cordoba's 40-yard strike and maintained it until half-time, but substitute Sead Kolasinac's volley, Alexis Sanchez's superb curler and Bellerin's 82nd-minute goal saw Arsenal to a 3-1 win.
