Burberry's Christopher Bailey says there is 'enormous' potential for post-Brexit Britain

Burberry's Christopher Bailey says there is 'enormous' potential for post-Brexit Britain”

Christopher Bailey, the Halifax-born chief creative officer of luxury brand Burberry, has said the potential for United Kingdom trading post-Brexit is "enormous" as he insisted the group is "absolutely committed" to keeping its manufacturing in Yorkshire.

Speaking to the BBC, Christopher Bailey, the chief creative officer of the luxury brand, added that an anti-immigration climate must not endanger the UK's "thriving creative culture".

He said: "The possibilities and the potential for growth, both locally here in the United Kingdom and overseas, is enormous".

But he welcomed the possibilities for the British economy from global trade after the United Kingdom leaves the European Union.

But Mr Bailey did caution that the UK's split from the European Union could have an adverse impact on some aspects of business.

In the United Kingdom, growth has slowed somewhat in recent months due to the fallout from last year's Brexit vote.

"We are absolutely committed to keeping our manufacturing in this country with our factories in Yorkshire, but with the new site we're just taking a moment to make sure we understand the ramifications".

"I feel very strongly for an open world and a world without borders and a world without walls". Bailey said: "Being able to share ideas, to collaborate with people from other cultures and countries, is fundamental to any creative business".

Bailey was Burberry's chief executive until July, but returned to a more creative role after handing his position to Marco Gobetti.

He said: "Like all of us, I'm a human being and it's not particularly pleasant".
