Dogs trained by Federal Bureau of Investigation to sniff out pedophiles join British police force”

Dogs Tweed and Rob were trained by Devon and Cornwall and Dorset police to sniff out mobile devices, USB sticks, SD cards, hard drives and computers.

Police said the trial unit was formed to give them a "new way" to fight terrorism, paedophilia and fraud.

"We are very grateful to Devon and Cornwall Police for allowing Tweed to provide invaluable support".

In 2015, dog instructor PC Graham Attwood began to research whether dogs could be used effectively in this way and worked with his counterparts in CT, who use digital detection dogs. "The majority of the dogs we have in the force either come from our puppy breeding scheme or are gift or rescue dogs, but this was a unique challenge for us as so we identified and purchased Tweed and Rob last December when they were around 15 months old, and embarked on this journey with them".

In service now with Devon and Cornwall Police, the two dogs - Tweed and Rob - have been given the official job title of Digital Storage Detection Police Dogs.

PC Graham Attwood, a police dog instructor for the Alliance Police Dog School in Exeter, started the trial scheme in December 2016 after collaborating with USA state police in CT and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

They passed their assessment with flying colours and were set to work.

Force dog instructor PC Attwood said: "We have already seen some really fantastic results from these two dogs". While executing one warrant, Tweed sniffed out what looked like a Coke can.

At another search, he said Labrador Rob found a small device "carefully hidden in a draw", which the officer suspects would have been missed by the human eye.

The dogs, which were trained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, have already been used in over 50 raids by other United Kingdom forces in Essex, South Wales and North Yorkshire.

BRIT cops are using specialist Federal Bureau of Investigation trained dogs that can "sniff out" paedophiles' computers in the battle against sick pervs. The dogs live at home with their new full-time police dog handlers, PC Martin King and PC Jill Curnow.
