Chelsea boss Antonio Conte: I don't care about Arsenal or Arsene Wenger

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte: I don't care about Arsenal or Arsene Wenger”

With Alexis Sanchez scoring a controversial opener for Arsenal and Chelsea's Victor Moses sent off for diving, it was a bitter conclusion to an otherwise flawless first season in charge for Conte.

Any meeting with London rivals Arsenal is a big moment in Chelsea's season, but those painful losses mean the latest derby at Stamford Bridge carries extra significance for Conte and company. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte maintains that his side being a man down led to both losses.

"In both situations I think you have to see very well if there was the red card or not", Conte said.

"When you lose there is always disappointment but I always see a good mentality from my players when there is a defeat". There are six top teams and when you play it is a massive game.

Asked about May's 2-1 FA Cup final loss, in particular, Conte brought up Alexis Sanchez's controversial early goal, which might have been ruled out for handball and offside.

"I was sure this goal would be disallowed, instead we started 1-0 down".

Two FA Cup final goalscorers - Sanchez and Diego Costa - have been subject to speculation of departures but remain, for now.

Like Costa, England midfielder Danny Drinkwater will not be involved against Arsenal, with his debut delayed until October by a calf injury.

That opening weekend loss to Burnley aside, it has been a flawless start for Chelsea, with three successive league wins followed by a 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag in the Champions League on Tuesday.

He seems to believe that red cards shown to Victor Moses and Pedro Rodriguez were major reasons for the defeat, and that his Blues can beat the Gunners in 11 on 11 football. "He needs time to recover", Conte said.

The Belgium playmaker, who tore through Arsenal to score a stunning solo goal in February, suffered a broken ankle in June.

'I think they follow the trendy tactic of five in the back that some of your colleagues like to call three but they are totally wrong, it is five, ' he said.

"They have many top players".

"I watched the [Arsenal] game and Wenger rotated a lot of players, a lot of players rested for the game against us", he continued. "I don't think it's an advantage".

They have just six points from four games and were roundly beaten 4-0 by title rivals Liverpool before the worldwide break.

Victory at Wembley resulted in the Frenchman signing a new two-year contract.

"I want to speak about Chelsea's situation, not Arsenal's. We were unlucky, if you remember the first goal it was very odd", Conte said of the Cup final.

"They will solve their problems, we will solve ours". The terror attack, which injured 29 people, occurred less than a mile from the stadium at Parsons Green.

Conte opened his press conference with thoughts for those affected.
