Cops Injured in St. Louis Protests”

Acting Police Commissioner Lawrence O'Toole said in a statement posted to Twitter that 10 police officers were injured throughout the day and 32 people were arrested in the protests.

A library and several restaurants were damaged in addition to the mayor's home.

Nine St. Louis City police officers were hurt along with one county police officer and a State Highway patrol trooper.

"Many of the demonstrators were peaceful". According to O'Toole, those orders came after officers were assaulted with bricks and bottles. Officers also deployed pepper balls as a less lethal option after they say agitators continued to assault officers and destroy property.

After the large group of protesters was able to march unimpeded to Krewson's home, gather on the lawn and knock on the door - a process that took some 30 minutes - the first police finally arrived and began pushing them back, firing canisters of tear gas.

There were several incidents as protesters massed in the Central West End between about 8 pm Friday night until around 1 am Saturday morning. One video caught riot police bowling over an older woman as they attempted to quell demonstrations.

Police were on the scene of multiple protests in the St. Louis area Friday evening - primarily in the Central West End. A court document said that Stockley and another police officer chased Smith, a drug suspect, in a auto at more than 80 miles per hour and that he was "going to kill this motherf--er, don't you know it" before instructing the driving officer to steer the auto into Smith's slowing vehicle. By nightfall, protesters were marching south some chanting: "If you kill our kids, we kill your economy!"
