Najib promises to restore Sabah, Sarawak rights

Najib promises to restore Sabah, Sarawak rights”

He added that he has asked a committee to be established and that the committee will be tasked to study the rights of the people of Sabah and Sarawak based on the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

Musa said the presence of Najib tonight proved that despite being busy as the nation's number one leader with many duties, the people of Sabah and Malaysians in general are always close to his heart.

"We want Sabahans for Malaysia and Malaysians for Sabahans". We will make sure they get what they are due soon.

"And we will negotiate as siblings, as a family", he said.

Najib said as a sovereign state, Malaysia was now capable of becoming a capital exporter.

"This is our gift to Malaysians in East Malaysia", said Najib, referring to the Pan Borneo Highway that was launched in 2015.

"That is why when I was with Trump, I brought what I thought of as a value proposition. We want more people to come to Sabah because Sabah is lovely, very attractive and has high potential", he said.

He added that the issue was manipulated by the opposition and explained that Malaysia Airlines can not continue its flight with old dilapidated crafts.

"When I said that the EPF wanted to invest in the USA, they (opposition) said it was no use and it was better to invest in our own country".

"We can not let MAS lag behind".

He noted that the recent Sea Games 2017 was a good example of Malaysians coming together, and the 28 athletes representing Sabah also proven that the state has talents and potentials that could contribute to the country's success in regional or global sporting events.

Najib also explained the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) investments in the United States, which had been questioned repeatedly by the opposition, saying that the move would enable the EPF to make more profit, hence increase dividends to its contributors. "They should have varied investments that's why we have investments in 39 countries so we can give out profitable dividends", he said.

Let us all as Malaysians celebrate the birth of our nation today and remind ourselves that our Malaysia is 54 years old - and not 60.

The 54th Malaysian birthday celebrations at the Likas Sports Complex parking lot began yesterday with several events and stage performances by local and national artists.

Also present were the Sabah head of state Juhar Mahiruddin, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman, Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg and members of the state governments.

He said that Najib's trip the US White House at the invitation of US president Donald Trump reflected Malaysia's role as a strategic partner to the latter.

"Yet today, our country is successful, the respect accorded to me by the leaders of the world, including recently by the President of U.S. was because they see Malaysia as a country that is successful".

"Malaysia is committed to fight violence and oppression, not as what the foreign media are reporting and the claims of the opposition to tarnish our nation's image", he said, adding that foreign media was colluding with certain opposition leaders to tarnish the nation.
