Beer flowing in Munich: Thousands head to Oktoberfest”

Especially when your at a festival that involves beer and a LOT of craic.

Oktoberfest runs from September 16 to October 3 this year, according to Munich's website.

Oktoberfest, which takes place in Munich, Germany, begins September 16 and runs until October 3.

The bier is flowing at Munich's fabled Oktoberfest. Since 1950, the festivities only begin when, at noon, 12 guns sound a salute and the mayor cracks open the first beer barrel, yelling "O' zapft is!"

Drinkers will face higher beer prices - a litre of beer will cost up to 10.95 euros ($13), 25 cents higher than past year, when 6.6 million litres of beer were guzzled over the two weeks.

If you're heading to an event like Oktoberfest, it's important to bring the right footwear.

Oktoberfest is hoping more people will come to the festival this year after attendance in 2016 dipped in part due to concern over terror attacks.

The colorway is inspired by traditional Lederhosen outfits while the forefoot lining is inspired by beer festival shirts.
