Parsons Green: Second arrest over Tube bombing

Parsons Green: Second arrest over Tube bombing”

Two men have been arrested in relation to the terror attack at Parsons Green Tube station.

The UK's Home Secretary Amber Rudd has confirmed that the country's terror threat level has been lowered from "critical" to "severe", though all relevant security agencies remain on high alert.

The Metropolitan Police on Sunday said that another person has been arrested in connection with the terrorist attack at Parsons Green station.

The terror threat level from global terrorism is back down to "severe" - the same as Northern Ireland-related terrorism.

The couple are said to be staying with friends following the police raid, during which surrounding houses were evacuated.

This picture could show the Parson's Green suspect leaving home with a homemade bomb in a Lidl carrier bag.

This was the fifth terrorist attack in the United Kingdom this year. "The police stand together with all the communities in the United Kingdom and we will take action against any criminal behaviour, which seeks to undermine society, especially where crimes are motivated by hate".

On Saturday morning, an 18-year-old was arrested by Kent Police in the port area of Dover, a popular destination for Islamist fighters, people-traffickers, and illegal migrants travelling to and from Calais, France.

An address in Stanwell, Surrey - just metres from the runway at Heathrow Terminal 5 - was being searched in connection with the arrest of the 21-year-old man in Hounslow late on Saturday evening, Scotland Yard said.

"Since the level was raised on Friday, we have had additional armed police officers on patrol across the country and the public should continue to expect to see these officers as we gradually scale back our policing response in keeping with the UK-wide operation".

At least eight of the couple's foster children have reportedly been refugees, coming from Iraq, Eritrea, Syria, Albania, and Afghanistan, and the elderly couple were believed to have been helping Surrey County Council with a scheme relocating Syrians.

Friend Alison Griffiths said the couple had an 18-year-old and a 22-year-old staying with them recently.

A massive manhunt was launched after an improvised device partially exploded on a District Line train at Parsons Green station during the Friday morning rush hour.
