Redskins top Rams on last-minute touchdown”

The Rams hosted Washington on Sunday in front of a mostly-empty stadium, casting doubt on whether the City of Angels is a premier market for one National Football League franchise, let alone two.

The Rams defensive tackle has been added to the team's active roster and is expected to start Sunday against the Redskins in Los Angeles.

After routing the Indianapolis Colts in their opener, the Rams could not stop the Redskins' rushing attack or withstand the late-game mastery by Cousins, who helped his team improve to 1-1. Washington ran the ball 15 times on its first 25 plays. He completed 18 of 27 passes for 179 yards with no interceptions.

A player with a lengthy injury history, Jordan Reed exited the Redskins game against the Rams during the second half with a chest injury.

Gurley ran around left end for 18 yards, setting the stage for a highlight-reel play.

Goff was not as good as he was last week, when he completed 21 of 29 passes for 306 yards and a touchdown.

But the story in Week 2 was the Rams defense that labored all day against the Washington running game. But two penalties stalled the drive and the Rams had to settle for the field goal.

Cousins managed just 6.6 yards per attempt and again struggled to get on the same page with new No. 1 Terrelle Pryor (2-31 receiving).

Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson left the field because of an injury during the drive. The margin would have been greater had Kelley cut away from defenders on a few of his carries and had Cousins hit his targets in the end zone.

Washington's game-winning drive was preceded by the Rams pulling off a fake punt on fourth down - another Johnny Hekker special - and followed by LB Mason Foster slamming the door shut by picking off Jared Goff. Of the Redskins' 385 total yards, 229 came on the ground.

Washington (1-1) jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first half after Dustin Hopkins booted his second of two field goal makes in the game.

In the fourth quarter, he rushed for 38 yards on seven carries and helped pace Washington on a 10-play, 70-yard drive that Cousins capped off with the 11-yard toss to Ryan Grant that gave Washington the deciding 27-20 lead. Running back Todd Gurley carried the final yard of that drive to pare Washington's lead to 13-7, with 9:59 before the half.

The Redskins jumped to a 13-0 lead and never trailed. These numbers are especially low considering that on Saturday night, the USC-Texas game - also played in the Coliseum - had 84,714 fans. Everett caught the ball and ran about 40 yards for a 69-yard gain. "The way we ran the ball last week, we had a bad taste in our mouths, so I was just glad we were able to get after it this week". "But make no mistake, it's always nice to hand off to Chris Thompson and watch him just go 50, 60 yards for a touchdown".
