Mother and child in critical condition after Dublin fire

Mother and child in critical condition after Dublin fire”

It is believed the four people were a mother, her two sons aged 12 and eight, and her seven-year-old daughter.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination, and an investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.

"The flat a couple of doors down was in flames and I heard all the kids were there, so I got a ladder and climbed up the back".

It is understood the mother was in a bedroom upstairs in the flat with at least two of the children when the fire broke out.

A witness has described hearing the woman screaming for help.

"Francis was just flopped in the arms of the fireman, and I could see Maggie in the ambulance, she didn't look good", said Caroline.

Gardaí say they're now treating last night's fire at a flats complex in Dublin as suspicious.

Both boys were taken to Crumlin Children's hospital, where the eight-year-old remains critically ill. The teenage boy was being treated in the same hospital.

It's understood it broke out at around a 11pm at an apartment block on Tyrone Place in Inchicore.

10 units of the Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene at around 11 o'clock as neighbours fled outside for safety.

A woman in her 30s and three children are said to be in a serious condition in hospital.
