18-year-old man arrested in Parsons Green bombing

18-year-old man arrested in Parsons Green bombing”

Police in the United Kingdom have now arrested two men in connection with the explosion on a train Friday that left dozens injured.

The man is being held under the Terrorism Act and has been brought to London for questioning.

It comes after the arrest of an 18-year-old man in Dover, in the departure area of the port. Residents said they were evacuated immediately as police established a huge cordon and imposed a no-fly zone above the property being searched.

Hounslow is about six kilometres from Sunbury, where police raided and searched a building in connection with the bombing.

29 people were injured in the attack. Reports describe victims with facial burns.

Assistant Police Commissioner Mark Rowley said the device did not fully detonate.

Prime Minister Theresa May has raised the threat level to critical, meaning another attack is expected imminently.

"The public should remain vigilant as our staff, officers and partners continue to work through this complex investigation".

"This is a proportionate and sensible step which will provide extra reassurance and protection while the investigation progresses". For strong investigative reasons, we will not give any more details on the man we arrested at this stage.

The man remains in custody at a local police station and will be transferred to a south London police station soon.

Terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria claimed responsibility as it has for other attacks in Britain this year.
