IKEA Wants To Build 2nd Arizona Store In Glendale”

"We are thrilled with the reception afforded us after entering Arizona almost 13 years ago, so we are excited about submitting plans for IKEA Glendale to extend our Phoenix-area reach", Lars Petersson, IKEA U.S. president, said in a release.

According to a media release, the home furnishings retailer is submitting plans to the City of Glendale for a brand new store in the west Valley.

Pending approvals, construction of IKEA Glendale could start next fall and open in the spring of 2020.

IKEA has one Arizona location in Tempe near Interstate 10 and Warner Road that opened in 2004.

The City of Glendale stated in a press release that the store would be located on the southeast corner of Bethany Home Road and the Loop 101.

The store will be the second location in Arizona.

IKEA estimates that construction would employ more than 500 people, while more than 300 jobs would be created with the store's opening.
