Microsoft may be soon launching the first UK-based retail store”

Microsoft opened its first worldwide store in Sydney, Australia, in 2015.

Despite being a major market for Microsoft with customers generally of a friendly disposition to the company Microsoft has so far failed to deliver a physical Microsoft Store in the region, relying instead on the wonky retail displays at Currys PC world and other electronics retailers. It's reportedly close to securing a prime piece of real estate on London's Oxford Circus, a popular shopping venue in the busy shopping district of the city.

Microsoft operates 116 retail stores around the world - majority located in the USA, with Canada and Australia sharing nine of them.

Microsoft launched their first physical Microsoft Store 7 years ago, and has been searching for United Kingdom location for some years now.

It was later reported that Microsoft couldn't secure the building that it originally wanted so it made a decision to pass on a retail store in London.

However, Microsoft fans probably shouldn't get too excited - we've seen this movie before.

Microsoft's first retail store opened in 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

If this does come to fruition, the new UK Microsoft Store would be based in 255-259 Regent Street, just outside of the Oxford Circus Tube station.

A Microsoft spokesperson wouldn't confirm the news, saying the company "does not comment on rumour or speculation".
