North Korea's foreign minister snubs Donald Trump's threat as 'dog's bark'

North Korea's foreign minister snubs Donald Trump's threat as 'dog's bark'”

North Korea shrugged off Donald Trump's threat that the USA can destroy the country led by Kim Jong-Un, comparing it to a "dog's bark".

"Ri didn't respond to questions by reporters waiting for his arrival at JFK International Airport on Wednesday to attend the UN General Assembly".

Trump while addressing the United Nations General Assembly in a maiden speech on Tuesday, had warned North Korea that Washington would "totally destroy" it if the U.S. or its allies were attacked.

Ri told reporters near the United Nations headquarters in New York: "There is a saying that goes: "Even when dogs bark, the parade goes on".

In Korean, a dog dream is one that is absurd and makes little sense.

Asked what he thought of Trump's description of Kim as rocket man, Ri replied: "I feel sorry for his aides".

North Korea fired a missile over Japan earlier this month and tested a hydrogen bomb, prompting Trump to insist that "all options were on the table" in an implied threat of pre-emptive military action.

As the United States and North Korea traded verbal barbs, Washington's allies in the region risked angering China by dismissing the prospect of dialogue with the regime.

Merkel said she was prepared, as was the foreign minister, to act responsibly.

Despite the sanctions by the United States and the UN, North Korea has been expanding its nuclear capacity in regular intervals. "What is needed to do is not dialogue, but pressure", said Abe, who devoted his entire speech to North Korea.

"We have consistently said we would pursue humanitarian aid for North Korea in consideration of the poor conditions children and pregnant women are in there, apart from political issues", said Unification Minister Cho Myong-gyon.

North Korea had "no intention whatsoever of abandoning its nuclear or missile development", he said. "In what hope of success are we now repeating the very same failure a third time?" North Korean Foreign Minister told reporters outside a hotel in NY.

A group of 10 U.S. Democratic senators has urged U.S. President Donald Trump to quickly fill major posts in charge of Korean affairs that have been vacant for months, given escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula, a U.S. broadcaster reported Thursday.
