Sweeper molests school girl in Panipat, FIR registered”

The class four student told her parents that a man allegedly tried to rape her.

Police have registered a case against an unidentified person in the women police station following a complaint filed by the father of the victim, who is a student of Class 4 in the Millennium School in Panipat city, about 90 km from New Delhi.

Panipat deputy commissioner has also marked an inquiry into the incident.

Police said the child was found with scratches on her neck and shoulders.

A relative of the girl told ANI that the school management called him to take the girl away as she was crying.

Senior police officials visited the school on Thursday to investigate the matter.

She added that they are questioning the teachers and non-teaching staff of the school and trying to verify the details from the CCTV cameras installed in the school.

According to reports, the alleged accused is the sweeper of the school however, the police have not confirmed the same as of yet.

Panipat district education officer (DEO) Udai Pratap also visited the school on Thursday.

The outraged parents staged a protest outside the school following the incident.

Pratap said, "Adequate actions will be taken against the school if lapses are found". Following the incident the Haryana government had instructed all school to install CCTV cameras in the school premises.

Scores of parents gathered outside the school on Thursday and protested against the administration.

The incident comes less than two weeks after an eight-year-old boy was murdered in another private school in Haryana: Gurgaon's Ryan International School. Seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur was found with his throat slit in the school washroom on 8 September.
