Arsenal's Welbeck out for three weeks with groin injury

Arsenal's Welbeck out for three weeks with groin injury”

ARSENE WENGER has been hit with a fresh injury blow after he revealed Calum Chambers and Danny Welbeck face nearly a month on the sidelines.

As well as having to sit out the Doncaster game, he will miss the Premier League fixtures with West Brom and Brighton, and the Europa League tie at BATE Borisov of Belarus.

"Danny has a scan today", Wenger told reporters on Tuesday afternoon.

"People forget that two months ago we beat Chelsea in the Cup final and they don't give you the Cup, you know", said the Frenchman, who has seen his team respond positively to a 4-0 drubbing at Anfield prior to the first global break of the season.

He could return in time for Arsenal's trip to Watford on 14 October.

Wenger, meanwhile, also gave updates on crocked midfielders Mesut Ozil and Francis Coquelin.

The game is likely to be a chance for fringe players to make their mark - including returning midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Wenger said: "Mesut is training again, but for tomorrow no (he will not play)". He is suffering with 'knee inflammation'.

"Defender Calum Chambers will be included against Doncaster".

"It will be a similar team to the one that played against Cologne", Wenger confirmed.

Arsenal are expected to be without the England worldwide for their mid-week League Cup tie at home to Doncaster.

"Manager Darren Ferguson too is convinced the result is far from a foregone conclusion. We've got a couple of home games now and hopefully we can win them and put ourselves in a good position again".
