Macron says Iran nuclear deal no longer enough”

Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show Wednesday, Kerry criticized Trump's harsh rhetoric against North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The secretary told reporters it would now take some time to prepare to implement the decisions.

Under the nuclear deal, Iran surrendered much of its enriched uranium, dismantled a reactor and submitted nuclear sites to United Nations inspection, while Washington and Europe lifted some sanctions. And he said Iran will not accept any "preconditions or conditions" to keep the United States in the deal which was reached in 2015 after two years of negotiations. Guterres warned that the threat of a nuclear attack is at its highest level since the end of the Cold War and "fiery talk can lead to fatal misunderstandings".

Russia's top diplomat, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in his address, called the Iran deal one of the "more important factors of regional and global security" today.

"It was not a technical discussion, it was a political discussion of the political aspects", Tillerson said.

The next major deadline comes in October, when Trump will decide whether to certify that Iran is complying with the agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Congressional aides from both parties also said leaving the agreement seemed unnecessary, especially when Washington needs to work with worldwide partners on complicated issues like North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles programme and the civil war in Syria and refugee crisis.

On Tuesday, Trump talked tough on Iran and North Korea in his debut United Nations address, in which he signalled a possible end of the Iran nuclear deal and pressured North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons programme.

"The renewed doubts over the Iran deal come as Washington and North Korea are also exchanging blood-curdling threats - as Pyongyang builds a missile arsenal". "The appeasement policy which was carried out during previous administration has never brought any changes in Iran, so there has to be a change in policy".

US officials have said in recent weeks that Trump may try to supplement the deal by extending its provisions that ban Iran from possessing significant stockpiles of enriched uranium for 15 years. "We have largely in recent years vacated very important competitive space with Iran in this sophisticated campaign of subversion where they're really creating nearly a Hezbollah model across the greater Middle East".

He called the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers "one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into".

"An option may be to start enrichment", he said, "not building an atom bomb". "And we can not abide by an agreement if it provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program". Addressing the General Assembly on Wednesday, Rouhani said his country won't be the first to violate the nuclear agreement, "but it will respond decisively to its violation by any party".

"The exiting of the United States of America from the JCPOA will not benefit them in the slightest", Rouhani said.

Trump is due to meet the Palestinian leader, Mahmud Abbas on Wednesday, again at the United Nations assembly. He accused Iran of supporting terrorists and threatening Israel.

In any event, the U.S. We didn't throw shoes at one another. It's a deal that's good but we should sit down again and debate to see if it can be improved.

The agreement involved multiple Canadian governments over many years. In the current environment, it is anything but ordinary.

But Beatrice Fihn, executive director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, said countries signing the treaty will be taking a stand against nuclear weapons, "the only weapons of mass destruction not yet prohibited despite their vast destructive power and threat to humanity".

If Congress decides to reimpose economic sanctions - in the teeth of opposition from fellow deal signatories Britain, China, France, Germany and Russian Federation - the deal would likely collapse.
