Manchester City still need Yaya Toure, says Guardiola

Manchester City still need Yaya Toure, says Guardiola”

Manchester is leading from the front, City and United setting the pace and already suggesting we may well be looking at a two-horse race for the Premier League title.

Ironically, despite beating Burton 4-1, United don't seem as interested in the tournament this season, with Mourinho claiming after the game that English clubs could do without it. Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says they are too big a club to focus on winning the domestic cups, while Chelsea made wholesale changes for their third-round tie with Nottingham Forest, as did Arsenal in a 1-0 win over Doncaster.

Manchester City are now top of the Premier League on alphabetical order as they sit level on points and goal difference with cross-town rivals Manchester United.

Discussions between City and the online retail giant are yet to be finalised, but intimate match-day content, such as Pep Guardiola's team talks and staff meetings, is expected to be included in the final production.

City face bottom club Crystal Palace on Saturday, but Guardiola is not taking anything for granted.

Gundogan, making his first start since last December after recovering from surgery on his right knee, limped off against West Brom after a tackle from Yacob. I think there's a lot more to the Premier League than just those two.

"I knew from hearing about the Premier League that every single team can beat the other one".

Guardiola's views echo those expressed by Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho, who said some clubs could be better off without the League Cup. So business is business.

"I think the prize is good when you win another one". "Three days later Palace, then Shakhtar, then Chelsea". But we knew that before, so it's not a complaint in those terms.

"We need him and of course it's not easy for the players who didn't play in the last games", he said.

Leroy Sane then grabbed his second of the game late in the second half to seal City's passage through to the next round.

CITY midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has been cleared of serious injury following tests on his left knee.

Frank de Boer paid the price for overseeing defeats in the opening four league games and successor Roy Hodgson failed to break that run in his first game in charge against Southampton last weekend.

"Definitely not", he joked when asked if he would be still a coach.

"But I admire [Hodgson], a long career always deserves respect". I congratulate him. That is fantastic.

"When Guardiola came in, they went, "We want Mourinho in". So for the managers, there's a lot of wasted energy.
