Walmart Tests Grocery Delivery Directly Into Your Refrigerator

Walmart Tests Grocery Delivery Directly Into Your Refrigerator”

When a customer participating in the test orders groceries, he or she can choose to have the goods delivered directly into the fridge. Customers can use the August smart lock to give delivery drivers from Deliv, a startup service that Wal-Mart subsidiary Sam's Club began testing a year ago, a one-time passcode to gain entry into their homes.

The service gives Walmart deliverers a one-time code to use on an August Home lock at the customer's home.

Bentonville, Arkansas-based Wal-Mart said the homeowner would be in control of the entire experience, receiving a notification that the delivery is in progress and could also watch the real-time process. "As I watch the Deliv associate exit my front door, I even receive confirmation that my door has automatically been locked".

The service is now being trialled in Silicon Valley with a handful of August Home customers.

Wal-Mart is testing a service in the Silicon Valley to deliver groceries straight to customers' refrigerators. "The possibilities are endless, and we look forward to exploring how we can further serve our customers' needs".
