Earthquake Detected in North Korea

A magnitude 3.4 tremor detected in North Korea thought to be a "suspected explosion", China's quake administration said.

China is North Korea's last major trading partner, diplomatic ally and energy supplier. China will suspend the exports as the total approaches the ceiling, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.

"But even more importantly, it sent a very powerful message to North Korea that China is not being as supportive of them as it had been".

Imports of textiles from North Korea would also be banned immediately, the statement said.

A magnitude 3.4 tremor was detected in North Korea, China's natural disaster agency said, while a South Korean weather agency said it was not triggered artificially.

The UN resolution states that starting next year, exports of the refined oil products such as gasoline, diesel, heavy fuel oil, etc. will be capped at 2 million barrels annually.

The importing of North Korean textiles has been banned altogether by Beijing in compliance with the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution, and new shipments are now forbidden.

Seismic activity in North Korea could be a missile test.

President Trump has accused China of not putting enough pressure on Kim's regime to step back from its sabre-rattling.

US President Donald Trump dubbed North Korean leader Kim Jong Un "Rocket Man" in a speech at the UN in which he threatened to "totally destroy" the North if it attacked the US or its allies.

Russia has condemned North Korea's latest missile test over mainland Japan, but said it is in favour of political and diplomatic settlement "on the basis of the Russian-Chinese road map".

A Friday commentary from the North's official Korean Central News Agency accused the party newspaper People's Daily and other party news outlets of "kowtowing to the ignorant acts of the Trump Administration".

North Korea's official news agency has ridiculed the recent United Nations sanctions as "the dirty excrement of the reactionaries of history".

It said the operation showed the seriousness with which it took North Korea's "reckless behavior".

Speaking to Fox News Business, Mrs Duff said: "Iran has adhered to the specifics of the deal, but they don't need to do nuclear research themselves since the North Koreans are doing it for them". Experts say North Korea also uses shell companies to skirt rules. One thing North Korea is extremely good at is absorbing pain.
