Facebook is testing Whatsapp shortcuts in its main app

Facebook is testing Whatsapp shortcuts in its main app”

Facebook also tested the Instagram shortcut for Facebook and up till now, the shortcut is still available.

Facebook might be testing a new dedicating button for WhatsApp in its core app on Android, according to a report in TheNextWeb.

The new button, which can be found in the menu area of the app, is now available to a few users on the Android version of the app, but might be available to some iOS users too. Chances are you won't be able to see it for a couple of weeks, at the very least. In 2015, they added a WhatsApp send button in the Facebook app, so users can quickly share their photos and posts with contacts.

San Francisco: Facebook appears to be testing a new feature which will allow the users to launch WhatsApp directly from its app.

There is no telling when this app will come to Android and iOS and whether it will come at all.

It remains unclear about when will happen when a user who does not have WhatsApp installed on the device taps on the shortcut button on Facebook. It was also allegedly found after a user switched the app's language to Danish, though there also isn't any word on whether that switch is a requirement to access the feature. One thing that we can ascertain is that Facebook might have plans to boost the user base of the messaging platform that is struggling to gain traction in some Western markets including the U.S. The company is believed to bring about additional integrations to WhatsApp before rolling out this shortcut button feature to all the users.

It's not clear why Facebook would want to build a WhatsApp button into its main app. This suggests that the social media giant is now testing the feature for a small group of users in Denmark.

A couple of days ago, reports came out of Facebook Messenger's users shooting up 30% to 1.3 billion in just a year and rivalling WhatsApp.
