Man Charged With Murder in 2016 West Side Shootings”

Both were taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

About 1 a.m., the man was sitting on a porch in the 400 block of West 115th Street when a group of males approached him, according to Chicago Police.

And when it was all over, the city's homicide total for the year stood at 499, with the 500th to follow shortly when a man who was shot late Sunday died the following day. Officers shot at him before arresting him, police said.

Brown is also accused of another shooting a few eeks earlier in the West Side Austin neighborhood, police said. The older man was grazed by a bullet in the elbow, and the younger man was grazed in his shoulder.

The shooting might have been gang-related, a police source said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. His condition was not immediately known. Police said the victim walked to Holy Cross Hospital after he was shot in the right forearm and right thigh.

Both men, 21 and 20, were shot in a leg and taken to Stroger and Mount Sinai respectively. Their conditions were stabilized. Someone shot at him from a maroon van, police said.

Investigators identified Brown as the man who fatally shot 51-year-old Gregory Wong during an attempted robbery about 7:20 p.m. November 2, 2016, in the 3000 block of West 5th Avenue in East Garfield Park, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. The 23-year-old man was shot in the right knee and taken to Christ Medical Center. Both their conditions had stabilized.

At least three other people were wounded in separate shootings since 7:30 p.m. Friday.
