North Korea hints it could test hydrogen bomb in Pacific”

President Donald Trump responded early Friday after North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un said the United States would "pay dearly" for new sanctions on his country and called Trump a "dotard".

In a rare direct statement delivered straight to camera, Kim said that Trump would "pay dearly" for the threats, and that North Korea "will consider with seriousness exercising of a corresponding, highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history". "Whatever Trump might have expected, he will face results beyond his expectation", Kim said, adding that he would "tame" Trump "with fire". North Korea has conducted six nuclear test explosions since 2006, all at its northeastern underground test site. In addition to the nuclear test, North Korea has launched dozens of missiles since Kim came to power in 2011. "This could probably mean the strongest hydrogen bomb test over the Pacific Ocean".

"We can not deny the possibility it may fly over our country", Onodera said Thursday.

Vipin Narang, a nuclear strategy expert at MIT, said such a test could pose a danger to shipping and aircraft, even if North Korea declares a keep-out zone. "We are talking about putting a live nuclear warhead on a missile that has been tested only a handful of times".

The United Nations Security Council had also condemned the launch of yet another ballistic missile by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and called on the country's leadership to halt such activities and explore resumption of honest dialogue on de-nuclearisation. He also said he would "tame the mentally deranged USA dotard with fire".

On Tuesday, Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea in a speech to the UN General Assembly if it moves against the United States or its allies.

Kim said Trump's comments were reflective of "mentally deranged behavior".

Ri Yong Ho spoke to reporters in NY shortly after Kim made an unprecedented televised statement, accusing Trump of being "mentally deranged".

A day after Trump's address, North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho had likened Trump to a "barking dog", saying his comments were no threat to the North.

The executive order Trump inked just ahead of the lunch enhances Treasury Department authorities to target individuals who provide goods, services or technology to North Korea, Trump said.

Trump also said that Chinese President Xi Jinping had ordered Chinese banks to not to any business with North Korea.

"In principle, China has always implemented the U.N. Security Council's resolutions in their entirety and fulfilled our due responsibility", Lu Kang, the Chinese spokesman, told a regular briefing.

He added that United States continues to seek a "complete denuclearisation of North Korea".
