Spurs boss Pochettino: Sherwood wrong about Kane

Spurs boss Pochettino: Sherwood wrong about Kane”

Last season's Premier League Golden Boot victor has started the season slowly with two goals in five league games for Spurs, although he has been sharper in Europe where he found the net twice in the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

After a slow start to the current campaign, he found his range with a double at Everton and then followed that up with another two goals away to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

"The only way they can keep him is to win something this year".

Pochettino certainly is not panicking about that just yet, though, the Spurs boss certain that Kane's love for the club trumps any other desires.

"I think we feel very proud about him", said Pochettino.

"But people recognise Harry's value".

Kane has now firmly established himself as one of the World's best forwards and it has been suggested that he may end up leaving Spurs in order to obtain higher wages and achieve his dream of winning trophies.

"I respect every single opinion".

"Tottenham have been a great club for Harry and he's been paying them back tenfold. But that is a question more for Harry on what he wants to do".

Kane was the only English player included on Wednesday's 55-man shortlist for the FIFA FIFPro World 11, decided by the votes of 25,000 professional players.

Ahead of this weekend's game against West Ham, Spurs boss Pochettino has told The Mirror that he is proud of Dier's transition to play in midfield, discussing his gradual move into midfield. "That's one of my best memories in football really".

"That does not surprise me".

"I think we should be proud of what we've managed to do so far, but I don't think we can be proud of achieving anything because I don't think we have", the England global said. But I think Harry deserves it.

'But if you are a very good player and can play very well in different positions, there are more possibilities for him to play'.

And after scoring the victor in Tuesday's 1-0 EFL Cup win over Barnsley, Alli was shown celebrating by cupping his ears, an act which some interpreted as a show of petulance towards demanding Spurs fans.

Pochettino insists Dier's flexibility is a strength, not a weakness, not least because it enables him to become a core member of the starting XI. That is the truth and I believe it and yesterday he told me that. But as a group, I think we wouldn't be happy unless we won something.
