China Confirms Limit Of Oil Exports To North Korea”

Trump called the North Korean leader a "madman" on Friday, a day after Kim dubbed him a "mentally deranged US dotard" who would face the "highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history" in retaliation for Trump saying the USA would "totally destroy" North Korea if it threatened the US or its allies.

"When Mr. Trump threatens to annihilate 25 million people in North Korea, he is endangering 51 million South Koreans", said Jeong-ae Ahn-Kim, representative of Women Making Peace in South Korea.

The U.S. president vowed to unleash "fire and fury" on North Korea, used the nickname "Rocket Man" for Kim, and at the United Nations on Tuesday threatened to "totally destroy" the North if provoked.

North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho told reporters in NY that the country was debating an atmospheric hydrogen bomb test over the Pacific, but that the decision was one to be made by Kim.

North Korea has conducted all of its six nuclear tests within deep underground tunnels to diminish the spread of radioactive materials, and has stepped up the pace of its missile tests.

He described the exchange of insults between the USA and North Korean leaders was "quite bad, unacceptable".

Moscow and Beijing have proposed kick-starting negotiations with North Korea by freezing Pyongyang's nuclear and missile tests in exchange for a suspension of South Korean-US annual military drills.

"Diplomacy does not mean placing embargoes on seafood and textiles that will inflict more misery on the North Korean people", says Ewa Eriksson Fortier, a Swedish humanitarian worker with extensive experience in North Korea.

"It would also send a disturbing signal to the US and the worldwide community that North Korea had now "arrived" as a full-fledged nuclear weapon state".

North Korea has responded to Donald Trump's threat to destroy the reclusive nation by announcing it may test a hydrogen bomb over the Pacific Ocean.

"North Korea is dependent on its shipping networks to facilitate worldwide trade", the White House said.

"We will not carry out export procedures of related products from 12 a.m. on the day of announcement and these products will be uniformly put on the list of prohibited export items in the future", it said.

China's official Xinhua news agency said the epicentre was roughly at the same place as a similar shallow quake on September 3, which turned out to be caused by North Korea's sixth and largest nuclear test.

Elleman said the missile of choice in a North Korean atmospheric H-bomb test likely would be its longest-range ballistic missile, known as the Hwasong-14, which apparently has the capability of reaching the US mainland, or the intermediate-range Hwasong-12.

He called Kim Jong Un a mad man, adding that the North Korean dictator will be tested like never before.

Experts say the most likely way the North would conduct an atmospheric test over the Pacific is to launch a long-range missile - probably overflying Japan - and have its nuclear warhead detonate in the skies over a remote part of the Pacific.

According to United Nations customs data, China sent 6,000 barrels a day of oil products to North Korea in 2016.

Trump's return to focusing on North Korea's economy may temper worldwide unease over his tough address Tuesday.

He characterized Trump's speech to the world body on Tuesday as "mentally deranged behavior".

China also made a decision to limit exports of refined petroleum products to North Korea from October 1 in line with the export ceiling imposed under the U.N. Security Council Resolution No. 2375.
