China reiterates calls for S.Korea to remove THAAD

China reiterates calls for S.Korea to remove THAAD”

U.S. President Donald Trump called the North Korean leader a "madman" on Friday, a day after Kim dubbed him a "mentally deranged U.S. dotard" who would face the "highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history".

The site of the natural disaster where on September 3 North Korea conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test, in what it said was the detonation of a thermonuclear weapon.

Chinese seismic services detected the tremor at a depth of zero kilometres, at around 8.30 GMT on Saturday morning.

An official at South Korea's meteorological agency said they were analysing the tremor, which they put at magnitude 3.0, but the initial view was that it was a natural quake.

There have been so many rounds of sanctions against North Korea that it can be hard to keep track.

Ending his speech, Mnuchin said that the US was aiming to work with its allies to prohibit North Korea from "using the global financial system to further Kim's reckless behavior".

The U.N. resolution imposes additional sanctions on North Korea, which has been making rapid progress in its quest to develop a nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missile. Last week, China announced that its central banks would stop doing business with the country.

Japan talking only about sanctions on North Korea rather than dialogue will be seen as going against United Nations resolutions, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Japanese counterpart.

Earlier on Saturday, China said it will limit exports of refined petroleum products from October 1 and ban exports of condensates and liquefied natural gas immediately to comply with the latest United Nations sanctions. Beijing has repeatedly expressed concern about the rise of tensions over North Korea and, while it too has signed up for the increasingly tough United Nations sanctions, it has also urged a return to talks and for all parties to exercise restraint.

China, which has been under strong pressure from the United States to do more to rein in North Korea's weapons program, has pledged to fully implement the U.N. sanctions.

Foreign banks "can choose to do business with the United States or with North Korea but not both".
