Manju Warrier expresses disappointment over boycotts against Dileep's Ramaleela

Manju Warrier expresses disappointment over boycotts against Dileep's Ramaleela”

Once the "Janapriya Nayakan" (people's hero), Malayalam superstar Dileep has lost favour with the audience after his arrest in the actress abduction case.

Malayalam actress Manju Warrier recently condemned the boycott of her former husband Dileep's upcoming film Ramaleela.

In a Facebook post, Manju appealed to the people not to stop the release of the film. The release of Ramaleela, which was scheduled to hit the screens on Eid, was postponed due to widespread protests against its lead actor in Kerala.

Manju, who is a close friend of the survivor, also happens to be Dileep's ex-wife.

She has expressed her disapproval against the campaign to disrupt the release of Ramaleela as it has been gaining a lot of traction on social media.

"I saw many calls to boycott the movie, some even threatened to burn down the theaters". Their relationship with the film does not end once they leave the set after collecting their remuneration. She said a movie is not about one person, there are several people behind it. Dislike or hatred towards one person should not be expressed towards a film which is the result of hard work and money of hundreds of people, she added. The people behind a movie rejoice when they come to know that the movie was a success and that people loved it.

She has also said that cinema is a livelihood for many families -that it is the food, medicine and text books for many.

Ramaleela is directed by debutant filmmaker Arun Gopy and is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam.

"Ramaleela is producer Tomichan Mulakupadam's investment". Not just that, the film is the directorial debut of Arun Gopi, who has been dreaming about it for years.

She says that no film is owned by a single person. We do not have the right to deny it. Time will not forgive us.

"Let the people watch the movie and decide,"she concluded her post".
