Could this be the new Subaru WRX?

Could this be the new Subaru WRX?”

THE WRX and WRX STI are fast approaching retirement, and Subaru's Viziv Performance Concept - set to take centre stage at Subaru's Tokyo Motor Show stand - is likely our first look at what will replace them.

Subaru is remaining tight-lipped about the the VIZIV Performance Concept, saying only "The new VIZIV (vision for innovation) Performance Concept is a sports sedan that embodies the brand's vision for the future of making cars that deliver "enjoyment and peace of mind" to its customers".

The two humps above its windscreen are ostensibly for Subaru's Eyesight active safety system, which Subaru says forms the core of an "advanced driver-assist technology" suite that will be showcased by the concept.

The teaser images Subaru has released show a auto with muscular haunches and clean lines, and a bold grille flanked by LEDs.

This latest concept is expected to show off the new Subaru WRX and WRX STI which are due in 2019.

Teaser images of the Viziv don't reveal much, but a distinct boxy front end can be viewed, which is similar to the automaker's Viziv-7 concept revealed at the 2016 Los Angeles motor show and previewed a new seven-seat Toyota Kluger rival. It also features cosmetic exterior and interior enhancements.
