Donald Trump says Kim Jong Un is 'obviously a madman'

Donald Trump says Kim Jong Un is 'obviously a madman'”

Kim on Friday threatened the "highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history" in a tirade against Trump's warning that Washington would "totally destroy" the North if the United States or its allies were threatened. Others have suggested "old beast lunatic" as another translation.

Trump announced the measures as he met the leaders of South Korea and Japan, the nations most immediately imperiled by North Korea's threats of a military strike. He calls the president "mentally deranged".

"It is assumed that the earthquakes occurred because of North Korea's latest nuclear test", Park said.

The CTBTO, or Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty Organization, which monitors nuclear tests, and officials of the South Korean meteorological agency also said they believed it was a natural quake.

Following Trump's threat of "fire and fury" over Pyongyang's missile programme in August, the North said it was considering strikes near U.S. strategic military installations in the Pacific territory of Guam.

Earlier this month, North Korea conducted its most powerful nuclear test to date, drawing stiffer United Nations sanctions.

Calling Trump "deranged" and a "frightened dog", Kim Jong Un also labelled the USA leader a "dotard" (this after translation).

The sanctions seem to be having little effect so far, with North Korea's foreign minister telling reporters in NY on Friday that his country could continue launching nuclear missile tests. The depth at the epicenter was 5 kilometers (3.1 miles).

He said: "I am now thinking hard about what response he could have expected when he allowed such eccentric words to trip off his tongue".

Then, Kim Jong Un, also known as Dear Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un (well, in North Korea at least) happened. Ri retorted that Trump himself was on a "suicide mission" after the US president said Kim was on such a mission.

It was the USA president's most direct reference to military action so far against the North, which conducted its sixth and largest nuclear test on September 3.

But this was the furthest north of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) any United States fighter or bomber aircraft has flown off North Korea's coast in this century, Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said.

Meanwhile Trump on Thursday said that the United States would roll out new sanctions against North Korea, hinting at a new travel ban. Chinese banks received the document on Monday, the sources said. "Analysis ongoing", CTBTO Executive Secretary Lassina Zerbo said in a Twitter post.

"We can not conclusively confirm at this time the nature (natural or human-made) of the event", the USGS said.

China's Big Four state-owned banks have stopped providing financial services to new North Korean clients, Reuters reported last week, with some measures beginning as early as the end of past year.
