Jim Harbaugh is not pleased with Purdue's visiting locker room”

The issues arose following a brutal hit to MI quarterback Wilson Speight, knocking him out of the game without a penalty. Speight had to go somewhere else to get X-rays because Purdue didn't have facility for that.

Mike Carmin of the Lafayette Journal & Courier wrote in July that the next step in Purdue's football renovations includes work being done at Ross-Ade Stadium to build a new locker room on gamedays. No. 7 MI has a bye, but it's not clear when Speight will be healthy enough to return. Liked his mechanics. Played good game "in all respects". "And we'll assess it as we go".

"Very tough guy", Harbaugh said.

Injured Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight had to be transported by van to a student health building to undergo an X-ray after what Harbaugh on Monday called an "egregious" late hit that he believes should have been ruled targeting.

Harbaugh felt the hit on Speight by DT Eddy Wilson deserved a penalty, which was not called.

"I asked (defensive coordinator) Don Brown, did you see this in the ACC? If I had a stronger word to use, I would use it", Harbaugh said. "With all the emphasis on protecting defenseless players, it appeared that the player knew what he was doing". After one Boilermakers defender hit Speight, another blitzer hit him in the head and neck area as he fell to the ground.

Harbaugh said he hopes his program can help spearhead an initiative to make sure that Big Ten teams are doing a better job of taking care of their guests.?Harbaugh and MI athletic director Warde Manuel discussed what upgrades their stadium needed this weekend to try to make sure MI could "lead the way" in those efforts.

Harbaugh said O'Korn saw things well.

MI coach upset there was no air conditioning in visitor's locker room at Purdue's Ross-Ade Stadium.

Harbaugh said U-M will do everything they can for visitor's to provide a level of care. And it seems to be a conscious effort for gamesmanship. In this case, no air conditioning.

"Such a tight, cramped environment". People are walking by and watching you dress. A number of urinals or bathrooms for players, I think there were two. "There was not even a private door around it". "Gamesmanship should cease at the line of health and safety for the players". "Very small space for a training room". He said he plans to contact the Big Ten. I'm not putting this on Purdue. This needs to be addressed by the league and by the commissioner [Jim Delany]. There have been advancements, and our stadiums need to reflect that. There needs to be a minimum standard of care for the players. Again, we put a lot of emphasis on health and safety of the players, but it doesn't even seem sanitary.

Harbaugh said he wished he had taken a picture of the table injured players are put on. It looks like it was from the 20s. It's ripped. It's just not good.

One final note here; the Wolverines have confirmed their game against Michigan State on October 7th in Ann Arbor will be a night game.

MI radio reported last Saturday the on-field game-time temperature was 101 degrees.
