Murder suspect slashes own throat, jumps in front of NYC train to evade arrest, police say”

Police soon learned Veal was wanted for murder.

Rondell Veal, 36, slashed his throat and leaped onto the southbound No. 6 train tracks at the Grand Central-E. The New York Post is reporting that Campbell and Veal were married. Local police in Newark, Delaware had been looking for him since Friday for stabbing to death his girlfriend, Sherrie Campbell, according to the New York Daily News.

The Newark Police Department shared further details on the horrifying matter to their Twitter page Sunday night.

The investigation began as a check on the welfare when officers responded to a residence on Westfield Drive on September 22, 2017 at approximately 11:45 p.m. Officers made entry into the residence and located the body of an adult female who had suffered multiple stab wounds.

It is unclear if local cops will transport Veal back to DE or if Newark police will come and get him.

Newark Police issued an arrest warrant for Veal on the charges of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon while committing a felony after gathering evidence at the scene that linked him to the crime.

Veal's relationship to Campbell is unclear.

Detectives - assuming that he fled to the Big Apple - had been communicating with the NYPD before Veal's suicide attempt, sources said. On Sunday, New York city officers found Veal in a hospital, where he was recovering from injuries he received during his suicide attempt. Her death marked that city's first homicide since 2014, according to The News Journal.
