United plan new De Gea deal

United plan new De Gea deal”

The English Manchester United football club are likely to extend the contract with goalkeeper David de Gea.

De Gea has less than two years remaining on his current terms, and United will be aware that De Gea's value and the club's own position in negotiations will only decrease should no new deal be agreed in the coming months.

The Independent says United are over the next few weeks set to open talks with De Gea regarding a new contract, and are confident that the Spanish goalkeeper will agree despite long-standing interest from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid have been desperate to bring the Manchester United No. 1 to the capital to takeover for Keylor Navas, and a new contract at Old Trafford would - it is believed - finally keep Real Madrid away from the goalkeeper.

The Red Devils have been insistent that they will not buckle under pressure from Real, and are looking to extend De Gea's stay at Old Trafford.

The former Manchester United defender believes keeping hold of De Gea has been as important as adding more quality to the squad for Mourinho over the last two years. However, the Spanish shot stopper has proven to be one of the best in the world despite the early criticism.

Real Madrid have made several attempts to buy the player and came perilously close to signing him a couple of years back.
