Michael Jordan Speaks Out Against Trump Slamming Stephen Curry & NFL”

Many NFL players locked arms, kneeled or both, and several raised fists amid Trump's comments on Sunday, otherwise known as The Day "Stick to Sports" Officially Died. In a statement to the Charlottesville Observer, Jordan said that "those who exercise the right to peacefully express themselves should not be demonized or ostracized".

The latest person to issue a statement includes former National Basketball Association player and current Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan, who stated that Trump's comments "create more division" and that those who protest "should not be demonized or ostracized".

President Donald Trump has chosen to withdraw the invite to the Golden State Warriors, specifically singling out Stephen Curry and his hesitation as a reason for his decision.

Jordan, who's previously spoken about other social issues - such as the shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in 2016 - issued the concise statement to The Charlotte Observer on September 24.

In his comment to the Observer, Jordan said that he supports NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, the league, and players exercising their right to free speech.

"Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team".

The Warriors responded with a statement that, in lieu of a White House visit, the team will "celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion" during a February trip to Washington, D.C., to play the Wizards. "... We're disappointed that we did not have an opportunity during this process to share our views or have open dialogue on issues impacting our communities that we felt would be important to raise".

At a Friday rally in Huntsville, Alabama, Trump called on NFL owners to dismiss players who choose to kneel in protest during the the national anthem and needled Stephen Curry, one of the country's most popular athletes. "He's fired, '" Trump said, per CNN.
