Politics is not a movie: Tamil Nadu minister to Kamal Haasan

Politics is not a movie: Tamil Nadu minister to Kamal Haasan”

Ready to enter politics, Kamal Haasan would not hesitate to join hands with the BJP -or any other party for that matter -if something good for the people comes out of it.

In an exclusive interview with Times of India, he said, "politics is too big a game to feel the absence of a Kamal Haasan".

"If I take up a position legally, I will have to quit acting", he added.

Last week, amid mounting speculation that he would take a political plunge, the actor hosted Kejriwal at the office-cum-residence in Alwarpet. Kamal has been on a "learning curve" for the past few weeks by meeting politicians like Kerala chief minister Pinnarayi Vijayan and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and sharing ideas on fighting corruption and communalism.

"I also have a similar reputation and it is no wonder we made a decision to have a dialogue on the existing situation (in the country and Tamil Nadu)", he said.

Responding to Kamal's criticism that the state government has failed to control incidence of dengue, Jayakumar said the Health and Family Welfare Department has been taking enough steps to prevent spread of the disease in Tamil Nadu.

Not leaning into either the left or right sides of the politics, the actor claimed that his political colour is that of black as it contained all colours, including saffron, a colour typically used in reference to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Is the chief minister's post some kind of a toy that can be purchased from the market. People should recognise and people should accept.
