Seahawks' Michael Bennett: Trump stooped so low with his NFL attacks”

Meghan Linsey, the singer performing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Sunday's Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans game in Nashville, took a knee on a field with no players present after finishing her rendition of the national anthem.

Matheny says things like bonds, tax breaks, or land go away if teams want new stadiums or arenas.

"We wanted to be able to find a way not to put anybody in the limelight", Bennett said. "All of a sudden he's speaking on what he believes in and he's still standing up for what he believes in".

Trump praised the "great anger" from fans at the Cowboys-Cardinals game on Monday night after people booed Jerry Jones and Dallas players for taking a knee together prior to the national anthem.

Matheny told WKRN-TV "Until all (Tennessee) sports teams stand up and respect the national anthem, we are going to pass this bill".

Villanueva was a captain and an Army Ranger who served three tours in Afghanistan and received several medals for his service, including the Bronze Star.

Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett, who pledged to kneel for the entirety of the 2017 National Football League season for equality, explained to CNN's Anderson Cooper on "AC360" why his team chose to unite on Sunday. "What's the difference between a guy kneeling for what he believes in and what he did standing up for what he believes in?" We're all saying the same thing.

Before Friday's remarks, Bennett was one of only a handful of NFL players to stage a protest during the national anthem, beginning with the team's first preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers on August 13.

"That shows America - that's the freedom to express what he believes". I don't think we should be judged as un-American because we believe in equality.

Bennett said his encounter with the Las Vegas Police Department during which he believed he was a victim of racial profiling provided one reason for his protest. "And it happened to me and it can happen to anybody". "I can't sit here and say he's not my president or he's not that, because at the end of the day he is the President of the United States". He explained that he does not "hate" all police officers, and that he would "love to sit down with the President and talk about these issues. But I think there's people out there that could judge - will judge you on the color of your skin".

Bennett, who has sat during the national anthem to raise awareness to racism and intolerance, said he would like to meet with Trump to discuss the controversy.

"I applaud him for standing up for what he believes in", Bennett said.
