Bethesda reveals brutal survival mode for 'Skyrim Special Edition'”

Bethesda's Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing, Pete Hines, is often busy fending off Elder Scrolls fans asking constantly about the six main installment. They will be able to play the mode for free one week after the release. After that window is over, it'll become a premium purchase.

The survival mode will be similar to many player-created mods found in the PC, except that this upcoming one will be officially launched by Bethesda.

Content from the Creation Club is paid - hence, the controversy among Bethesda fans. And if [Guerrilla] just stayed on that path for what they were known for, you'd never get that game. Bethesda doesn't think this strategy is bad, and finds this a clever way to offer players new content.

Survival Mode adds new features to Skyrim Special Edition that'll turn it into "a land of unrelenting cold and harsh wilderness", according to Bethesda.

What is different in the new Skyrim survival mode? It has provided a map showing all the risky climate zones, in addition to safe landmarks that'll help the player survive. Eating raw food also has effects on the characters' health.

Players will have to face extreme hunger, which significantly decreases their stamina, so they need to search for food to survive. Fatigue diminishes the total available magicka, and if it persists, potions will start getting less and less effective. Therefore, they will have to roam around in harsh conditions, look for places to rest and restore their stamina, and be as clever as possible to reach the end of the quest.
