Pochettino reveals one Tottenham Hotspur player tried to leave in the summer”

Eriksen missed Spurs' 3-0 win at APOEL in the Champions League on Tuesday after withdrawing from the squad due to illness.

Eriksen has been in fine form for Tottenham in the current campaign and Pochettino will want to have the Dane at his disposal for the game against David Wagner's Huddersfield.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has welcomed Harry Winks' return to full fitness.

Spurs play Huddersfield live on Sky Sports this Saturday and although all of Winks' Premier League appearances this season have come from the bench, Pochettino has praised the 21-year-old and says he adds different qualities to his side.

"He has the quality and the capacity to play and use the demand of the game and read it.

Every player that maybe wasn't involved too much in my plans last season, all the players try to play more", Pochettino was quoted as saying by football.london when asked if he could have accepted an offer for Sissoko during the most recent transfer window. He's so clever, and we are so happy that he starts to feel better now because he provides to the team qualities that we don't have.

"But I think maybe that possibility didn't exist and I was more than happy for him to stay and to give him the possibility to play".

"He is completely different to our other midfielders like Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Mousa Sissoko".

But Pochettino warned not to expect too much too soon from Winks, who is still playing catch-up after struggling through preseason with pain in his ankle.

Pochettino claimed there was obvious pressure on Sissoko given his sizable transfer fee and conceded that he arrived at White Hart Lane in a poor condition - through no fault of his own - after being denied a proper pre-season following France's run to the final of Euro 2016.

"My relationship with him was always good and we were always very clear about what we expected from him". It's not the same when you have a proper preseason and you are fit. It's completely different for him, when he is doing different jobs to get fit as possible. "[Now] it's about moving on and seeing if he deserves the possibility to play".
