Organizers To Lead March For Black Women In DC”

After many black women felt unheard during the Women's March on Washington in January, she also wanted to shed light on the fact that black women are disproportionately affected by the wage gap, domestic violence, and other feminist issues.

On its website, the March for Racial Justice said its mission was to "harness the national unrest and dissatisfaction with racial injustice into a national mobilization" aimed at promoting racial equity.

The March for Racial Justice was inspired by the acquittal of Jeronimo Yanez, the police officer who fatally shot Philando Castile, organizer Dorcas Davis told The Washington Post.

The March for Black Women, facilitated by Black Women's Blueprint, a civil and human rights organization of women and men who are focused on securing social, political and economic equality in the American society, will align their efforts with the March for Racial Justice in order to remind American citizens of the importance for justice for Black women, according to mamablack.org.

While the M4BW targeted black women's hardships specifically, the organizers also stated broader goals.

This Saturday, September 30, Washington DC. Protesters yelled "black women matter", Refinery29 reports.

The March for Black Women and the March for Racial Justice will start their actions at different times but meet up before heading to the U.S. Department of Justice headquarters and the National Mall.

Moreover, if you wish to join the March for Racial Justice, you can line up at Lincoln Park on Capitol Hill between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. The march is open to all. The seek to reverse "laws, policies and practices that hasten inequality, dehumanize people of color and maintain white supremacy", and march "because as long as USA laws, policies, and practices remain steeped in white supremacy, basic human rights and civil rights for all-our universal and constitutional rights-will never be fully realized".

If you are not based in the Washington, D.C. area, but still wish to participate in the marches, both the March for Black Women and the March for Racial Justice have sister marches happening around the country.
