SpaceX makes big announcement for rocket traveling”

The Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX owner made the promise at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Australia.

Musk didn't delve into the details of what the passenger experience would be like or how much he thinks it would cost.

The presentation also focused on other uses for the rocket, including for use going to the moon and building a permanent base.

Musk, the SpaceX founder, revealed plans for his newest streamlined travel concept Thursday.

This will provide, Musk said, the funding necessary to build SpaceX's most powerful rocket, dubbed the Big F***ing Rocket (BFR for short).

Although just a theory at the moment, Musk is aiming to begin construction of the rocket in the next six to nine months.

Musk proposed a similar project previous year, but failed to find funding.

SpaceX is now working on a giant reusable rocketship for its mission to colonise Mars and most likely the construction of BFR-Big Falcon Rocket-which will be used in transporting people from city to city on earth will begin by 2018. The entrepreneur said SpaceX is aiming to land two cargo ships on Mars in 2022 to leave supplies needed for human exploration.

"Most of what people consider to be long-distance trips could be completed in less than half an hour", he said.

The video concludes by saying the rocket travel is capable of sending passengers from Los Angeles to Toronto in 24 minutes and from London to NYC in just 29 minutes.

Other such routes proposed in the video include Hong Kong to Singapore in 22 minutes, London to Dubai or NY in 29 minutes, and Los Angeles to Toronto in 24 minutes, and more.

Cheap fuel and the use of reusable aircrafts should help to drive costs down, said Musk, who added that the ship will use floating landing pads near major cities to transport people around.
