England defeat New Zealand 3-2 in warm-up”

England gave a good account of their ability to go deep into the Under-17 World Cup when they defeated New Zealand 3-2 in their first practice game. England U-17 players train at the Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri yesterday.

The Kiwis faced a different type of opponent, compared to the skillful Brazilians in an earlier game at Mumbai Football Arena. The former was too quick and skilful for the New Zealand defence.

"It is frustrating. We could have nicked a draw, but that is something the players have to learn from". Our mentality has got to be super strong, we cant switch off for a second. Comedy of errors New Zealand went ahead following acomedy of errors. The game also offered decent insight into England's character because they came back from a goal down twice.

"We looked like a real threat in the first half". England equalised when Callum Hudson Odoi's corner kick ricocheted off the post to the feet of Marc Guehi who promptly did the rest. They were startled with an early goal, courtesy Oliver Whyte's wonder strike from outside the box. The wily midfielder, seeing Olivier make a dash, fed a delicious through ball to his teammate, who targetted England's right corner easily.

England wasted no time in scoring the equaliser. After taking the shot, the ball landed back at him.

At the half way mark, the two sides were levelled at 1-1.

"We are realistic enough to know the quality of opposition were gonna come up against and that we would not see the ball as much as we like". That's when the Lions upped their game and not only drew level, but also found the victor, courtesy Rhian in a span of two minutes.

BORUSSIA Dortmund prodigy Jadon Sancho's absence yesterday raised doubts whether the star winger, who was bought by the German club from Manchester City for £10 million, will feature in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. This is ideal for a developmental player, but it is the Three Lions side that bears the brunt of this scenario.England U-17 players train at the Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri yesterday , As Reported By Mid-day.

"We're working closely with Dortmund and comfortable that Sancho will play a part in the World Cup". Players are nurtured in elite academies of the United Kingdom and then graduate further to the senior men's team that feature in the Premier League.
