The film's producer, Aanand L Rai who is now shooting with Shah Rukh Khan for their untitled film expressed his delight for having Sonakshi in "Happy Bhag Jayegi Returns". According to media reports, this time the film stars Sonakshi Sinha along with Diana Penty in lead role in the much anticipated sequel.

Eros International and Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions" laughter riot "Happy Bhag Jayegi' released in August past year featured Diana Penty in the lead role along with Abhay Deol, Ali Fazal and Jimmy Shergill.

Earlier Sonakshi's management team said, "Discussions are in progress". When something concrete happens, it will be announced. During these times, Sonakshi had more or less confirmed the film.

After over a year since the film's release, the film is all set to have a sequel.

Further talking about being part of the second instalment of the film Diana says, "Happy Bhag Jayegi was a special film for me, so being part of Happy Bhag Jayegi Returns is like going back to family!" We expect some more cast in the film. Sonakshi Sinha on her twitter handle shared the love of the new project, saying "Its one big HAPPY family! Can't wait to kick start this journey.Aanand L Rai, Mudassar, Diana Penty #happybhaagjayegireturns", Sonakshi tweeted on Sunday.

The film goes on floors today and if the response of the last film is anything to go by, this one will be welcomed by the viewers as well. "I'm looking forward to the shoot", Diana said.

"Happy Bhag Jayegi' was a cross-border comedy of errors featuring humorous characters and now we are happy to announce the sequel that has Diana passing on the happy-ness quotient to Sonakshi. Excited to have her on board", said Aanand L Rai, the producer of the previous film.
