Trump calls his Puerto Rico critics 'politically motivated ingrates'”

In response to Trump writing that the people of Puerto Rico should "not believe the #FakeNews" when it comes to accurate reporting on the humanitarian crisis in their home country following the devastation of Hurricane Maria, Kardashian wrote, "They don't have power to watch the news!"

"I am asking the president of the United States to make sure somebody is in charge that is up to the task of saving lives".

"The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump", the president charged, without substantiation. "I wouldn't be surprised if he said, I need more troops in order to manage this distribution until Puerto Rico itself can get back on its feet", she said. "The military and first responders, despite no electric, roads, phones etc., have done an unbelievable job".

For every need now, there is a line. Duke and Trump spoke briefly about Puerto Rico but did not talk again until Tuesday, an administration official said. As the reality of the situation in Puerto Rico became more apparent, Trump was golfing, working on his travel ban, starting a feud with NFL players who protest during the national anthem, and escalating a war of words with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

"The problem in a devastating natural disaster is those people are also victims, so they're not really in a position - they may be the most competent first responders that you've got, but they've got their families and their homes to worry about", Townsend said.

President Donald Trump says his administration has "done a great job with the nearly impossible situation in Puerto Rico" after Hurricane Maria struck the island.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency told ABC News that any aid it has delivered to Puerto Rico has been immediately distributed.

Mr. Trump temporarily waived the Jones Act earlier this week to ease the delivery of aid by sea to Puerto Rico. "The goal is one: saving lives", she wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

On Friday, Cruz had responded on CNN to the comments of Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke, who had said that the response to the disaster was a "good news story".

"Today, I am alone", said 89-year-old Georgina Penalver in the central town of Comerio, who spent her time praying as Hurricane Maria lashed the island, and who has been unable to get through to her eight children in the mainland.

In his tweets Trump attempted to blame the island's continuing woes on Democrats, the media and local officials. Trump, from his golf club in New Jersey, took to Twitter to accuse Cruz of partisan politics. Stores are also opening, with almost half of grocery and big box stores, and more than 60 per cent of retail gas stations open for business. So far, FEMA has distributed more than 1.3 million meals.

"Let me stress this: I am committed to collaborating with everybody", he said.

"We will not rest, however, until the people of Puerto Rico are safe", he added.
