Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood on track for Ashes comebackā€

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc is set to return after he was sidelined for nearly four months due to a recurrence of a foot injury he suffered during Australia's Champions Trophy campaign earlier this year. He missed the IPL and was fit in time for the 2017 Champions Trophy, where the injury came back to haunt him and the quick has been out since then. As a result, it is seldom seen that the four-pronged pace attack of Pat Cummins, James Pattinson, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc operating in tandem. The Ashes begins on November 23 at The Gabba in Brisbane. He would return for three Sheffield Shield matches in the run up to the Ashes.

With the Australian cricket team getting battered in India, all eyes will be on the Ashes team selection.

According to a recent interview, Australia's fast bowling coach, David Saker, recently stated that their spearhead Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood are now recuperating well with their respective injuries in order to feature in the Magellan Ashes series starting late November.

Australian bowling coach David Saker has also confirmed that Pat Cummins looks set to play Ashes cricket for the first time following a heavy work load in his return to the Australian team.

"The players that play the first three Shield games, if they put their hand up they're a chance to grab a spot", Saker said. "Three Shield games to shape the Australian team - it's going to be good for everybody", Saker said. "James Pattinson's had a little setback but we're not sure how bad at the moment".

Saker added: "Josh Hazlewood is on track to play the first Test, Mitchell Starc is going really well and Patty is obviously flying".

Rohit Sharma hammered a 14th ODI century as India wrapped up a 4-1 series win over Australia in Nagpur. Matthew Wade would also get a chance to make his case for reaffirming his wicketkeeper's position when he takes the gloves for Victoria. I think that's a great lead-up for all the guys who are around the Test set-up, the guys who are looking to try and get in that team and some of us coming back from injury.
